This is a uniquely formulated correspondence course celebrating the qualities we experience when medicine is in our hands. It’s the crafting of an intentional space to practice presence with the ancient clarity of mosses, the wide resonance of mycelia, and the persistent unknown exactly where we are.

Drawing near — I mean really, really near — to the wild world is about as nourishing as medicine can get in these times. As our minds, our bodies, our spirits, however we move, as we gain proximity to the living around us we realize ourselves delightfully, powerfully entwined with the real world. The riches we seek are within reach of our fingers and just beneath our feet.

The magic of the world is tucked into a transformation that happens in a single moment — a change of mind, of body, of spirit, out of total distinction and into the between space, that boundary layer, where me is you and you is me. In this place, it’s easy for me to realize that I simply might not exist. Not without this tuft of moss. Or the mushroom tucked into it. Or the thriving living world these two precious storytellers recount. Long before I met this moment, and in ways I only long to understand, we are connected.

This is the sort of thing I steep in as I tend this shared coursework for Mosses, Mycelia, and Mysticism. This is the sort of thing I want to explore together with you, in correspondence, throughout this distant gathering. Are you interested?

Correspondence Course Details

This course happens on and in your time. There’s a sweet little calendar of opportunity in case you appreciate the order and shape of things, but it’s also flexible in case you are wishing to celebrate what comes about in those unexpected moments.

The course materials are delivered to you in fully written form. You can hold all the pieces in your hands, wherever you are. Everything will be mailed to you before the suggested date of the first unfolding, and you’ll have materials to unpack over the next six weeks to deepen and explore this extraordinary dive as you wish. Here’s what you’ll get!

Reflection Prompts and Room to Share
The weekly course guide will also be your support in case you’re looking for ways to deepen this experience, strengthen the subtleties of your mosses, mycelia, and mysticism exploration, and consider your perspective as a being of earth medicine this winter. Six Weeks of Actual Snail Mail Correspondence with Me
You’ll have my mailing address so you can send me notes, and I’ll respond! I’m committed to being in communication with you personally from the start of the course January 22 through the month of March. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with the wider group, if you choose, through a password-guarded webpage for our course only where I will post notes of my own and share snippets from you and others in our winter cohort. (The option to engage with the webpage is the only online part of the course, and it’s totally optional! It’s a way to connect with the wider group, but nothing you write will be posted unless you explicitly request it be shared.)
